The second annual Black Tot Day & Battle for Pirate King was wild. Last year's Pirate King Speed seemed likely to retain his title as four regulars and the returning Professor X watched the game build toward a crescendo of tightness. Before the derelict booty was distributed, Speed and the Professor were the "big winners" tied at one dollar up. The loser's trophy teetered between Doctor Doom and your Padre, both just two dollars down. In the middle, dead even, stood Mitch. The deck ran red with blood. Your Padre's derelict hand, after counting three cards deep, lost to the good doctor's also unpaired hand. Trophy: Padre, at two dollars down. Mitch's two dollars of derelict booty cannonballed him from even into a (two dollar!) first place finish and a new title. The Pirate King is dead. Long live Captain Mitch, the Pirate King! Insanely fun.
