A mini-superteam of the most regular regulars gathered at Speed's for a good time and plenty of play. Despite what felt to your Padre like some painfully unlikely boards mid-game, his cards started strong and ended strong. He was lucky and finished first at ten dollars up. Mitch Barnes was in the house, and his play was impressive. One of only two winners, he deserved more than the four dollars he pocketed. The night's host took the two dollar derelict pot with a boat, and the just-returned loser's trophy went home with Doc, who lost just eight. Since there were only five players, there was a brief, vain attempt to avoid split pot games; that, for some reason, evolved into a "crowd"-pleasing revival of Cold Omaha. Entertainment for the evening included distinguishing between the skunk outside and potential gas leaks inside. The fun was inflated. No one blew up.
